The most famous and perhaps most thrilling archaeological sites in the world

After breakfast, we begin our tour of the city’s legendary monuments—now best admired without the overwhelming tourist crowds of the past. The ever-impressive Pyramids of Giza, the majestic Sphinx, and the archaeological site of Saqqara, home to the famous Step Pyramid—the oldest pyramid in Egypt—and its fascinating decorated tombs.

We’ll also explore the ruins of Memphis, the capital of the Old Kingdom from around 2700 BC until its decline in 2200 BC.

After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum—the largest archaeological museum in the world, located just outside the Giza Plateau. It houses the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures displayed for the first time in full, alongside thousands of other remarkable artifacts from ancient Egyptian civilization. With its modern design and interactive exhibits, the museum offers a truly unforgettable journey through pharaonic history.

Following lunch at a central restaurant, we continue to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square—a historical and architectural gem dating back to the 19th century. This iconic museum is home to an outstanding collection of ancient artifacts, including royal mummies, statues, papyri, and everyday items from life in ancient Egypt. Even returning visitors often discover something new and fascinating.

Later in the afternoon, we head to the bustling and iconic Khan el Khalili souk. Dating back to the 16th century, this vibrant market is a true labyrinth of narrow alleys, hosting over 10,000 shops. It’s famous for its textiles, leather goods, spices, traditional jewelry, and perfumes—all at reasonable prices—though bargaining remains essential, in keeping with Islamic traditions.

In the evening, return to the hotel to enjoy a relaxing dinner and unwind after a full day of exploration

Through the desert, Coptic monasteries, and arrival on the Mediterranean

After breakfast, we travel north along the "Desert Highway" towards Alexandria. Midway, we stop at Wadi El Natrun—a desert depression about 23 meters below sea level. It is among the holiest regions in Egyptian Christianity.

Saint Macarius established the first Christian settlement here in 330 AD. Many hermits and monks lived in this desert area. Of the many monasteries that once existed, only four remain active today, home to about 500 Coptic Orthodox monks: the Monasteries of Saint Macarius, the Syrians, Anba Bishoi, and the Romans. Typically, we visit two, often Bishoi and the Syrians.

After the visits, we continue to Alexandria, located on the Mediterranean coast and the western edge of the Nile Delta.

Arrival in the late afternoon. Check-in at the hotel and enjoy a stroll around the city center, near the monumental Midan Saad Zaghloul Square overlooking the Corniche and the Eastern Harbor.

After dinner, we highly recommend experiencing a traditional shisha (water pipe) and Turkish coffee at one of the city's charming vintage cafés.

Discover the wonders of the beautiful Mediterranean city

Alexandria, Egypt’s second-largest city, was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC.

We will visit the new Bibliotheca Alexandrina—an ultra-modern facility built along the Corniche in homage to the ancient and legendary library. The extraordinary main reading hall holds 8 million books and can seat 2,500 people beneath a vast sloped roof. The windows are ingeniously designed to allow in light while protecting the collections.

We then visit the medieval Fort Qaitbey, built in the 15th century on Pharos Island on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria.

The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, the largest Greco-Roman necropolis in Egypt, plunging over 30 meters deep across three levels.

The Roman Amphitheater, dating from the 2nd century AD with a grand auditorium that has been restored multiple times.

The Villa of the Birds, restored in 2001, was once covered by Byzantine structures. Its floor boasts stunning mosaics from the reign of Emperor Hadrian, featuring incredibly lifelike animals—especially birds—set in a geometric black-and-white design that mimics carpets, a popular motif in Alexandrian villas.

The moving Italian memorial that touches the heart

After breakfast, we head west along the Mediterranean coast to visit El Alamein, sadly known for a major WWII battle won by the Allies.

We’ll visit the Italian military memorial built on the former front line, which once ran south to the Qattara Depression.

Return to Cairo and check-in at hotel.
